I am a Digital Video student in my Junior year at Baker College. I recently became certified in Television Production and editing from CMN TV, and am now doing an internship with the Detroit Pistons Broadcasting division at the Palace of Auburn Hills. During my time with CMN TV, I learned how to create a 30 minute television show for Public Access channels. We got to experience all positions in a television studio which helped to figure out our niche in the broadcasting arena. During this time we were using Final Cut Pro for editing purposes. I was also asked to be on a film crew, as a camera operator, for a couple concerts at the Royal Oak Music Theater. While with the Pistons, I’ve been doing a lot of encoding video for the web and capturing video to edit later. After the musical acts halftime show performance, I have been asked to edit the footage from 3 camera angles into one fluent music video using Avid Media Composer. This is done as soon as the halftime act is complete and must be put on the web that night by the end of the game. With the release of the Top 40 videos each month, I have been asked to create music videos by mixing them with highlight footage from games to create a music video montage which is used during Promos for home games. While working in a live television/sporting event environment; I have been exposed to many positions within the TV studio. I have also used the Sportbug feature which shows statistics on the television to home viewers. Helped with the set-up of the interview room and the Pistons Weekly broadcast with George Blaha and the Pistons players and done a lot of Production Assistant work. I am looking to break into the Broadcasting environment so I can start my career path on the right foot and hit the ground running.
