About Me
From the early age of eight, Ryan was immersed in music when he began studying piano. Although not his "main instrument" it has been a standard in his musical tool-kit ever since that age.
At ten years old, he found the electric guitar, and his life was never the same. After winning a local songwriting competition at the age of 16 which included $5000 of dedicated recording studio time in Knoxville, TN, he continued to hone his writing skills.
Throughout his high school years Ryan studied jazz composition and music theory. His love of the guitar led to more instruments being added to his arsenal. He became very skilled at the bass guitar, winning the International Association of Jazz Educators "Bass Soloist of the Year” in 1994. He also studied the upright bass, and continued his work on the guitar. Eventually his studies in music led him to the University of Kansas.
Ryan is also a graduate of the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences located in Gilbert, AZ. There he studied audio recording and production to include digital audio methods, post production, advanced recording and production techniques, digital recording techniques, and music business. While studying at the Conservatory, he had the pleasure of learning from industry greats like Mr. Kevin Becka, known for his work with Michael Jackson and Billy Idol as well as being the Technical Editor of Mix Magazine, and Mr. Robert Scoville, recognized for his work with Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Matchbox Twenty, Prince, Rush and Def Leppard.
Ryan is also an active duty officer in the U.S. Navy. He has been on active duty for over 13 years. He knows how to meet deadlines with quality products the first time. As a member of the military, his attention to detail in his songwriting and his recording efforts is what anyone would expect of an officer, and you can expect the same in your project. Ryan founded RKM Compositions in 2011 and it has been a huge success. He and his beautiful wife and two amazing sons live in Port Orchard, Washington.
I have been in the industry since 2011.
