Denise Marie Stilley
Denise M. Stilley channeled her film career toward the real and fleeting, captured moments and messages in documentary filmmaking,. She received a Bachelor’s Degree in Film Studies with a minor in Spanish from the University of California Santa Barbara, completing her thesis on imperfect cinema techniques and indigenous filmmaking. Shortly after, she moved to Queensland Australia to obtain her Master’s Degree in Film and Television Production. Stilley has worked on projects internationally to provide global awareness and connection from the frozen Patagonia ice caps to the birth of the Amazon River, from women’s abortion rights in Mexico to bird observation routes in Peru. Under the vision and practice of Indigenous documentary and cinema, landscape/wildlife documentary and social/political/cultural documentary, the essence of her company, Alma Libre Productions, was born and continues to thrive.
