As a young child growing up in suburban Philadelphia, Tara Friis always enjoyed watching movies and then directing her friends to act them out. Her first major production occurred one summer while on a family vacation. She was the producer, director, screenwriter, editor, production designer and stage crew. Her friends, under her tutelage, acted out "Big". It was a smash sensation at the KOA Kampground.
Her middle school years were spent rewriting favorite episodes of TV shows at 6:00 a.m. in order to be ready to stage the performances after school. It was always her favorite thing to do and she had some really great friends who were good sports about being her actors and crew. When she received her first camera as a birthday gift, she was able to combine her love of storytelling with visual documentation. The showbiz bug had bitten her early in life, but this experience had solidified her desire for visually chronicling the human experience.
After finishing high school, obtaining a B. S. in Psychology, and working a myriad of different jobs, Tara came to the conclusion that she needed to combine her academic achievements with her passion - Movies and Television- and make it her vocation as well as her hobby and passion.
While she never had aspirations to be in front of the camera, she has always reveled in the creativity of behind-the-scenes action. After working on her first film, Vamp U, she was convinced that Set Decoration and the art department is where she belongs.
I have been in the industry since 2011.
