I’m Matthew Harle, a recent graduate from a Media Production degree at Northumbria University, at which I attained a first, and a freelance filmmaker. I specialise in directing and editing, and have done this on several short films, as well as acting as a producer on others. I’ve worked on lots of different productions, including short dramas, documentaries, promotional videos and corporate work. As a result, I have a very good understanding of different aspects of filmmaking, I’m able to take on large workloads easily and work efficiently on everything I do.
Over the past two years I’ve self-taught myself in different editing software, including Final Cut Pro, Avid Media Composer and Adobe After Effects, which has allowed me to learn a lot about different file types, workflows, burning DVDs, and encoding methods, as well as Editing Decision Lists, Avid Log Exchanges, TeleCine reports, Camera roll sheets and sound sheets, which I’m now confident with. I’m competent with both Windows and Apple Macs, and can use a wide range of software, including Photoshop. I’ve also have previous experience in the industry, having worked as a trainee assistant editor on the upcoming feature film ‘Song for Marion’, a production assistant on the SkyArts Playhouse Presents ‘Care’ drama, as well as running work on a series of promotional work from SpectreCom. Most recently I worked with Channel 4’s drama department for a week, during which I undertook a wide variety of different jobs, including script research and compliance, broadcast safety and financial reports.
I have been in the industry since 2011.
