About Me

As an author, national TV show correspondent, senior producer, and event host/emcee, Shannon LaNier knows all too well the importance of being well-rounded.

This Renaissance man loves doing a little bit of everything from health & wellness consulting and investing in real estate to mentoring and adventure sports. LaNier believes that all of his interests contribute to being a more effective communicator, allowing the flexibility to navigate a variety of topics with varied audiences & employees. For a glimpse of his skills on camera and behind the scenes, watch the weekly nationally syndicated TV show “Black Enterprise Business Report,” where LaNier is a correspondent focusing on entrepreneurship. He’s also senior producer of that program, and its sister show “Our World With Black Enterprise.” Additionally, LaNier hosts the popular web series “Celebrity Hustle.”

When LaNier isn’t on TV he’s touring the country moderating discussions for a variety of organization or speaking about his lineage as a 9th generation descendant of President Thomas Jefferson and his slave Sally Hemings. At only 19 years old, the Cincinnati native penned the Random House book Jefferson’s Children: The Story of One American Family along with co-author Jane Feldman. Now, Lanier tours around the world speaking about his historic family and living out his true passion of being a public figure and TV personality. With those outlets, LaNier continues to empower and inspire others through international speaking engagements on a range of topics including multiculturalism, genealogy, entrepreneurship, TV/media, relationship-building and achieving your dreams.

In 2004, the Kent State University grad made his New York City debut as a segment producer for the CBS2 Morning Show and didn’t waste any time getting in front of the viewers. It doesn't matter if it's on TV or hosting an event, when a crowd is gathered, LaNier is drawn to it, and the audience to him. One of his former bosses at CBS, says, “Once Shannon’s “on,” the audience is glued. He’s born to be a star!”

Despite his challenging schedule, LaNier still finds time to be an active member of his church, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., and the National Association of Black Journalists. Most importantly he makes time for his wife and college sweetheart, Chandra and their newborn daughter, Madison.

I have been in the industry since 1995.
