I am currently seeking contract and freelance opportunities which offer the opportunity for remote work in creating written and video content, press release creation as well as media relations assistance for agencies or small businesses looking to craft an effective message. I am located in Chico, in Northern California, thus am not in physical proximity to many of the outlets which are seeking out experienced content creators and media/broadcast professionals. Who am I?

A multiple Emmy-Award winning broadcast and print journalist, Julia Yarbough has more than 22 years of on-air television, public speaking, professional writing and hosting experience.

She has chased news in the field and anchored nightly news broadcasts from the studios of NBC6-WTVJ, in Miami, KCBS2 in Los Angeles, WSVN, South Florida, WLKY, Louisville, Kentucky, WEAR, Pensacola, Florida and has now returned home to Northern California, serving in the capacity of Morning Anchor for KHSL-TV, Chico, California.
Prior to joining KHSL, Julia served as Public Information Officer for the City of Chico Police Department where she created a number of online video series to promote the department.

Before returning to Northern California, Julia served as Media Ambassador for the City of Miami Beach Communications team. In this capacity, Julia lead the video production department of MBTV, the award-winning Miami Beach government television station; responsible for the creation and production of original programming, long-form specials, PSA's, internal and external communications, press releases, media outreach to local and regional outlets and generating content for the city YouTube channel. Julia produced a widely-viewed Miami Beach Police Department video recruitment campaign and produced the award-winning series, On The Frontline.

Julia is an accomplished on-camera talent, voice-over artist, public speaker, moderator and presenter who can deliver a wide range of topics on personal development and career growth.
 
Julia Yarbough Media Group, LLC works with with organizations, corporations and individuals to tell stories that have a positive impact on our society and world; stories which inspire, educate and help to create change. Julia's passion for such stories led her to team with Builders of Hope, to create a video presentation for affordable housing in Africa, The HabiHut and GE to produce a video presentation in Nairobi, Kenya highlighting The HabiHut, partner with The Broward County Minority Builder's Coalition and Children's Harbor Foster Care Agency to feature the work of the respective agencies.

She has produced live reports from all over South Florida as well as exotic international locations, such as the 2006 Winter and 2008 Summer Olympics in Torino, Italy and Beijing, China, respectively. Never one to run from adventure and excitement, Julia flew an F-16 with the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds! Named “Best Female News Anchor” by the Broward New Times, Julia’s work has earned her professional and personal recognition and helped her build a following of loyal viewers and fans. It also caught the attention of movie director Michael Mann, casting Julia in MIAMI VICE, the movie and landed her a one-on-one interview with music superstars Daryl Hall & John Oates.  

Julia has received numerous awards, including twice the prestigious N.A.T.A.S. Emmy, two 3CMA Savvy Awards, The Sunshine State Award from The Society of Professional Journalists, and is the recipient of a 2009 Fellowship with The Institutes of Journalism  & Natural Resources. In 2011 Julia was named one of Broward County’s “100 Outstanding Women.”

Julia created of the hit blog 'Highway to a Husband' based on her personal cross-country road trip to highlight issues and challenges facing professional singles from coast to coast. The success of the blog, which included video features of travel, personal interviews and relationship topics, landed Julia on NBC's The Today Show, CNN and caught the attention of The Nate Berkus Show allowing Julia to serve as a contributor to the show for several months. Julia’s Highway to a Husband journey has been featured in EBONY Magazine, on Essence.com, radio and television stations across the country and television broadcast in Australia.

Julia is available for contract-based projects in writing, producing, content-creation and hosting.

I have been in the industry since 1990.
