He attended the University of Texas at El Paso until moving to New Mexico State University to Major in Film at the Creative Media Institute. He recently graduated in December of 2010. Andrew has already achieved success when his short film ‘The Sun Jar’ was chosen as an Official Selection at the Los Angeles International Children’s Film Festival in November of 2010. Andrew Jara's first feature film as both writer and director is "Last Days" made on the meager budget of 40,000 dollars and shot on the REDone camera. With ‘Last Days’, he hopes to show a horror film that goes beyond cheap thrills; a film that is both intelligent and entertaining, able to be enjoyed on multiple levels. He also hopes to call greater attention to Latino filmmaking both in El Paso and in general, to show that it is indeed a burgeoning industry that deserves recognition.
