Multimedia Producer/Director/On-air Personality/Script Writer/Copywriter:
With a unique background in Japan-USA multimedia production of radio, TV, and film projects, Deborah Grant was an on-air radio personality for NHK Dai-Ni Hoso on the program “English Hour” for two and a half years as announcer, scriptwriter, and interviewer of musicians, artists, and cultural leaders for broadcasts syndicated every Saturday and Sunday evening throughout Japan. Interviews of note were Josephine Baker, James Brown, and Peggy Lee, among many others.
Subsequently, after attending Princeton University’s Ph.D. Program in East Asian Studies, she came to Los Angeles, California as line producer, associate producer, U.S. based executive producer, and script writer of radio programming for FM Tokyo, FM Yokohama, and FM Japan. For more than ten years she produced the programs “American Music Map,” “L.A. Express,” and “Toyota California Classics,” and numerous all-day holiday radio special programs.
Deborah was also sales liaison for video libraries for Bandai Corporation, production liaison for The “Amazon” series by Jacques Cousteau sponsored by Suntory, line producer of a Fuji TV documentary special, interviewer of Michael Jackson and Andy Warhol, and an interview interpreter for a rare Stevie Wonder and Katsu Shintaro dialogue radio special, among many other video/film business and celebrity events. As a long time writer of radio scripts, advertising copy, brochures, white papers, research reports, and creative writing projects, excellent quality content is her main focus and objective for all audiovisual productions.
With a solid command of production workflow processes and objectives, Deborah is equally experienced in the business management of budgets and crews to maximize return on investment for broadcast enterprises. With a staff of 15 subcontractors for more than ten years with no attrition over that time, she provides a creative yet focused environment for seamless teamwork for employees and production crews, with excellent ROI for program sponsors.
Born and raised in Japan, and resident of Tokyo until the age of twenty-five, she is fully bilingual and bicultural, with a thorough understanding of both American and Japanese topics and trends. Deborah delivers a special blend of intelligent creativity and uplifting enjoyment for audiences and customers in any communications project.
