I am a recent graduate from High Point University in North Carolina with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Electronic Media with a minor in creative writing. I have a number of past on-set work experience credits with both film and television productions in both the narrative and documentary/reality style. In my education and work experience, I have been able to engage within a variety of departments involved in production. While my strongest suit lies in technical operations such as camera, lighting, and grip work, I have also worked with set construction and dressing within the art department. I also have extensive experience working as a Production Assistant, fulfilling all necessary extra duties within the production department including driving vehicles ranging from 15-passenger vans to cube trucks, and contacting and interacting with vendors and talent.
My key expertise lies in small-crew, on the fly, documentary/reality style shoots. I am able to juggle multiple tasks at a moments notice in any environment to light for best coverage as fast as possible and prep cameras and gear as well as assisting operators while shooting. I am very familiar with capturing footage with broadcast, DSLR, and GoPro cameras.
I also have experience working both on set and in a production office. On set, I have worked with first team talent as well as wrangling and checking in background actors. I am familiar with much of the paperwork for background extras as well as SAG paperwork and timecards. I have worked on independent narrative films as well as working for larger scale serial productions for Showtime and Cinemax where I was involved with a higher density crew and given more strict and high pressure tasks, which I was able to handle with ease. I am also experienced with working on documentary/reality style shows for both Esquire Network and Cooking Channel in which I played a more hands-on role due to the smaller crew size. Due to these experiences, I am very comfortable with handling equipment and driving transportation for a crew and above the line executives.
As my technical experience goes, I have worked hands on as both a camera operator and assistant cameraman with the RED One and RED Scarlet camera systems and am very familiar with the internal operations and menus within the camera to execute a variety of tasks. I also have experience as an assistant DIT for the feature film Union Bound in which I ran footage from the camera operator on set to an editing bay and was able to transfer and log the footage and scenic information for easy access by the film’s editor. I have worked with both in-house and external HMI lighting as well as running electrical cables and operating generators, as well as working with grip equipment such as silk frames, building scaffolding, and applying duvetyn to black out windows.
I have been in the industry since 2011.
