Communication Studies is a diverse academic discipline that includes the development of oral and written communication skills – but it also includes much more. Communication includes the study of Organizational Communication, Interpersonal and Family Communication, Intercultural Communication, Mass Media Production, Journalism, and the analysis of Media Effects, Rhetoric and Popular Culture.
What can you do with a Communication Major? Past majors have worked in advertising, public relations, newspaper, radio, television, film, human resources, marketing, organizational consulting, motivational speaking, sports promotion, lobbying, politics, campaign management, mediation, and pharmaceutical sales. Majors go on to graduate school as well. You can also combine Communication with a second major to prepare for a career in law, ministry, theatre promotion, or business.
