My name is Justin Thompson, I am a Chicago-based visual artist and motion designer who most recently created a first-of-its-kind permanent 3D projection mapping installation at ROOF on theWit hotel in Chicago from the ground up- acting as resident VJ and graphic content creator, lending in designing the structure and integration of the system. I was theWit’s first in-house creative, and hired, implemented and trained an entire new video department. Prior to my work at theWit, I acted as lead editor and motion designer at an ad agency in Chicago doing commercial, corporate and event work in charge of a team of three editors and two graphic designers. I spent 7 years touring with rock bands Fall Out Boy and Blink-182 designing and running graphic LED stage content, shooting and editing music videos and daily web content, and shooting photography. I spent another 5 years creating graphic content packages and daily photo and video content for the annual Honda Civic Tour.
I have been in the industry since 2003.

Visual artist Justin Thompson has just created and integrated a first-of-its-kind in hospitality permanent 3D projection mapping installation known simply as "theWall" at ROOF on theWit in Chicago.
Over his career, Justin toured the world with platinum selling rock bands, Fall Out Boy and Blink-182 among others creating video content, shooting photography, directing music videos and designing LED live stage content for nearly 10 years. He has also produced content for the annual Honda Civic Tour for the past 6 years. Justin has strong roots in the Chicago punk and rock music scene and injects that energy and insouciance into his work. He spent the last year at theWit hotel implementing a first-of-its-kind permanent 3D projection mapping installation at the #3 rooftop bar in the world- designing the structure, building the system and designing the content package. Prior to his work at theWit he resided at a Chicago-based advertising agency as lead editor and motion designer.
