Alex Ortiz was born and raised on the San Francisco peninsula. He attended Sacred Heart Preparatory and during those years, participated in many local bands playing guitar, bass, and drums.
Alex attended Salve Regina University in Newport, RI where he completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. During that time, he studied music theory and honed his skills as a songwriter by performing his compositions with local bands in the Newport bar scene.
Returning to the Bay Area after college, Alex's passion for music and sound production led him to Ex'pression College in Emeryville, CA where he has received a Bachelors degree in Sound Arts. Alex mastered the technical skills needed to perform an array of sound engineering duties including: recording, mixing, and mastering albums for local bands. He has worked on multiple post production projects ranging from film sound design and composition to video game sound design and composition. Alex has completed ADR, Foley, sound design, musical composition, and Sound Effects for multiple commercial spots, video game trailers and film segments.
Alex's knowledge of studio maintenance includes cable soldering, patchbay soldering, as well as reading and executing electronic schematics. He is also skilled at Live Sound, mixing front of house, monitors, and has recorded many shows while streaming them live over the web.
Alex continues to live in the San Francisco Bay Area. In his spare time, he composes new material and continues to build his library of sound effects through field recording.
