About Me

I am an award-winning director and cinematographer, and have worked for twenty-seven years in the commercial, documentary, and music video industry. I specialize in creating high-quality videos and visual narratives for philanthropic foundations, hospitals, and non-profit organizations. My career began in front of the camera with notable commercial directors, Joe Pytka and Rick Levin, and I soon discovered my passion and vision was best served behind the camera. My clients include, Infiniti, Nike, Toyota and Carls Jr.

BIO

Working his way up the ranks Christopher Charles has established himself as a world-class artist with an extensive command of camera and lighting techniques, narrative development, and editing strategies. He has worked alongside famed photographers, Matthew Rolston and Herb Ritts, where he acquired a more sophisticated approach for lighting people, on renowned music videos, and commercials with A-list artists and actors such as Beyoncé, Halle Berry and Charlize Theron.

From an early age, Christopher has carefully observed our emotional nature as people. He recognizes the extraordinary impact of emotional content in movies and commercial videos. As a director and storyteller, his greatest asset is his unceasing desire and ability to find human moments that immediately spark an emotional connection within his audience.

Charles takes a unique perspective to his art and life. As a Los Angeles trained firefighter and experienced licensed pilot, he has an extraordinary awareness of details. Subtleties that are often missed by people in our daily lives are second nature to him, by way of training and due to his youthful energy towards discovery and adventure. He brings those qualities to his craft as a director and DP. As he likes to say, “It’s the one world we can make perfect, Film”.
A storyteller at heart.

Charles is a native of Southern California, where he currently resides with his family.

I have been in the industry since 1989.
