Astralinks began in 1997 when Craig Beckett, Astralinks’ Managing Director, returned to Australia after several years working in SNG services in Europe. Craig saw a need for a high quality SNG service provider in the Australian market and after a couple of years back in Australia, Craig quit his job to start Astralinks.

Craig engineered and built his first kit - a Ku-band flyway based on a secondhand Advent Mantis antenna - and Astralinks’ first job was a horseracing event for Sky Racing in Inverell, NSW. Since then, Astralinks has grown to provide quality SNG services at a range of major news and sporting stories. These include an extended stay in East Timor during its move towards independence from Indonesia and various important Australian sporting events such as the Sydney Olympics, the 2003 Rugby World Cup and numerous AFL, NRL and V8 Supercar events.

Ten years after that first horseracing event, Astralinks has grown into a thriving business with a fleet of two well equipped, fully-redundant uplink trucks and one flyaway. Astralinks has established its reputation as a leading SNG services provider in Australia by providing sound technical knowledge and personal service to its many domestic and international customers.
