I'm interested in gaining production experience by working on television & film projects. Finding PA positions that work with my schedule has been challenging, but my day job allows me the freedom to take assignments without worrying about paying the bills.
I have previously PA'd on two television shoots with a contractor for The Weather Channel. Both shoots involved moving equipment, setting up a makeshift studio with lighting & backdrop, and taking behind the scenes photography of the talent and members of the US Senate & House of Representatives for them to share on their social media accounts.
Working as a photographer, I have developed skills that I feel would translate well to film/video production. Making photographs at races requires careful planning to be ready, where I need to be, and able to operate on location for long stretches without stopping. Planning shooting locations successfully involves scouting the location to make the most of available light, while staying close enough to the action without putting myself or my subjects in danger.
In addition to the above experiences, I have worked for more than 15 years in graphics and production, including working with Adobe's Creative Suite, and I think this would also make me an asset in the pre-production office as well as assisting with props, and other graphics needs.
I think my previous experience in different production environments helps me apply what I've learned, not only to solve problems, but to better anticipate what challenges could arise, and proactively address them. This production cross-training, along with a desire to learn and gain more experience in film production would make me a great addition to your crew.
I have been in the industry since 2009.
