I am an award winning musician and composer. My education includes studies in filmscore and orchestration at UCLA and piano studies with Mike Garson and Edith Knox. My scoring and sound design credits include, episodic television shows, commercials, industrial videos, animations, documentaries, TV station promotion and ID packages. I am adept at writing music for live ensembles as well as digital creation.
I became involved in music around the age of 12, learning piano and almost immediately composing music. As proficiency developed I began playing with ensembles and groups in the Los Angeles area.
In my late teens I studied music in college and I began working in studios; learning the craft. After touring with Chick Corea in 1978, I put together the west coast jazz fusion band, Aurora Borealis.
Continuing toward doing film music, I studied film scoring and orchestration at UCLA under the supervision of Jerry Fielding and Don Ray. Began working for Hitsville/Motown studios in the mid 80's. There I worked with the then cutting edge Synclavier system, doing publishing demos and scoring for minor films in the basement of their studios. I went on to write music for radio and television ads, as well as ghost cues and documentaries.
Moved to Colorado in the late 90's and began scoring music for cable television shows for Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, and the Food Network.
I partnered with a post production studio ( Valentine Pro ) , where I was mentored in the art of sound design.
I understand and love the art of film making. Helping to tell the story with sound and music is a wonderful part to film making.
I have been in the industry since 1978.
A compilation of films I scored the music and did the soundtrack to. It covers just a bit of what I do.
