About Me

Jonathan Saruk is a Blake Street Films cinematographer and producer who has created video content for the likes of ARTE, 3SAT, UNH­CR, BBC, Al Jazeera, The Great Big Story, ORF, and and has worked on corporate productions for S.A.P., Sony Ericsson, E.ON, and Unibail-Rodamco.

He was Director of Photography on the recent feature length documentary Truth Detectives, commissioned by German public broadcaster WDR/ARTE. He also worked as a cameraman on the recent documentary HONDROS, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2017.

His still images have been published in The New Yorker, Newsweek and The Sunday Times Magazine, and his first monograph, The Forbidden Reel, was selected as one of the best photo­graphy books of 2014 by Time Magazine.

A graduate of the International Center of Photography, Jonathan also holds an M.A. in print journalism from New York University.
