I'm an award-winning video producer, director and editor with over 14 years of professional video production experience emphasizing on branding, narrative storytelling, and content marketing. I write about the art and business of filmmaking and photography at DareDreamer.FM, and have contributed as a writer and expert to a number of notable websites and magazines including Professional Photographer, Zacuto, EventDV, PhotoFocus, and more.
I'm the host and producer of "Radio Film School" (http://radiofilmschool.com), an audio documentary series about filmmaking and the creative arts. We call it "This American Life" for filmmakers and NoFilmSchool called is, "The filmmaker's podcast we've all been waiting for.")
I've shot with everything from a Canon T2i to the C300 including the Sony A7s, the Panasonic GH4 and Blackmagic's 4k Production camera. My strength as a filmmaker lies in finding the story in a documentary style format, and creating emotionally engaging content.
I have been in the industry since 2002.
The Creative Process
Added on 6/8/2015
This was part 2 of a 3-part film series incorporated into a CEO's keynote presentation for a photography expo. Our objective was to create a series related to the expo's theme of "Dream, Create and Inspire." Instead of making a predictable testimonial style video of well-known photographers, we interviewed four artists who were NOT photographers. That way the audience would watch the film with no preconceived notions or baggage, yet still relate to the artists and their stories.
We also used our narrative documentary style. It takes what could be a stale, talking-head documentary and elevates it to story-like status. We do this through a combination of traditional b-roll combined with metaphorical b-roll. It is the metaphorical b-roll that helps give the film that narrative, story-like feel. In this case, it is the teen girl (a musician) going through her own creative process. This particular story theme is a continuation from the visual story in part 1 of this film series, “In Pursuit of Dreams”.
Audiences connect with stories.
Stories help to communicate messages in a way that is both interesting and engaging.
We help brands tell their story in amazing ways.
