About Me
I'm a Cinematographer based in Los Angeles, with an extensive track record in documentary, narrative, branded content and music video production.
My first documentary feature, Adele and Everything After was acquired by Gravitas Ventures and released in 2018, after a successful festival run which included both audience and jury awards, and appearances at Cleveland International Film Festival, Boston Independent Film Festival and many others. The narrative short The Brownlist won the short jury prize at Geena Davis' Bentonville Film Festival, and my first feature narrative project, The Great and Terrible Day of the Lord is currently in post-production.
Restarting The Motor City, currently in post-production is a documentary feature about entrepreneurialism in Detroit. I’ve also worked on branded content projects for clients like Thomson Reuters, Red Bull, Siemens, Harry’s Razors, Techstars and Oxford University Press.
I’m also the co-founder of Long Haul Films, which I started with my wife, Director Melissa Dowler.
Coming from a documentary film background, I'm used to working quickly and efficiently to establish strong visuals even with limited time or resources. I love to work with natural light, but am equally comfortable with a full truck of lights.
I'm a story-first cinematographer and love to collaborate with other key creative personnel to determine how camera, lens and lighting choices help tell a meaningful story. I'm an ally and advocate for under-represented filmmakers, and prioritize working with race and gender-diverse crews.
I believe that film is the best way to communicate the human experience, and has the power to help tear down the artificial barriers between different groups of people. I'm privileged to be a part of that.
I have been in the industry since 2010.
