About Me

An alumnus of the Sundance Producer’s Lab, Alvaro has worked with top agencies and production companies, producing and directing short content for brands such as Hess, Office Depot, Nike Air Jordan, Kohls, Splenda, Organic Valley and SHIPT, just to name a few. He has also produced the feature sci-fi thriller, Messengers, and the documentaries, The Evolution of Dad and Dalai Lama, Colombia.

Alvaro's producing versatility comes from his film production experience in such roles as Loc. Coordinator, ALM, Location Manager and Production Manager in productions that include Sidney Lumet’s Before the Devil Knows Your Dead, Mia Hansen-Løve’s Eden, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, and TV shows for HBO, Sony Pictures, CBS, and Warner Bros. TV. Alvaro holds an MFA in Film from Columbia University and a BA in Art History & Photography from William Paterson University.

Alvaro also produced the award-winning short films, La Milpa, Family Portrait and Zen and the Art of Landscaping. Collectively, these films won two Student Academy Awards, a Sundance Jury Prize, a Mexican Academy Award, and a Student Emmy.

Most recently Alvaro directed the short film "Midnights." In addition to receiving the Best Direction Award at the 2018 NY Independent TV Festival, it was also selected by Sony Pictures Television for its inaugural launch of Cine Sony's 6 episode series "Voces Nuevas: Recognizing Emerging Filmmakers," and is being distributed internationally by the French distribution company Gonella Productions.
