Michael Candelori is a New York-based cinematographer and visual journalist. In a career behind the camera spanning 15 years, he has worked in many modes of visual storytelling as well as in a range of acquisition formats. He is an Associate Member of the Society of Camera Operators and an FAA-licensed Commercial UAS pilot.
Michael has shot three feature films and countless short-form projects including from national TV commercials to music videos to TV pilots, as well as purpose-driven storytelling for clients in retail, health and tech. His collaboration with non-profits including the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, African Education Program, Brigaid and Rebuilding Together supports fundraising and awareness efforts. He earned an M.F.A. in Film Production from the Dodge College of Film and Media Arts at Chapman University, where he was nominated for the Kodak Scholarship and twice received the Panavision New Filmmaker Grant.
Michael is also an accomplished visual journalist, having captured breaking news, editorial and reportage images on five continents. His far-reaching coverage, with a particular focus on U.S. politics and social justice movements, has been featured by a cross-section of media including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Time, National Geographic, Vogue, Rolling Stone, Esquire, Playboy, Variety, The Guardian, Sports Illustrated, New York Magazine, New York Post, Vice, The Intercept, and Axios.
