About Me

Michael Dornellas is a professional Freediver, RED Monstro 8K operator, certified PADI Rescue Diver, and all-around underwater athlete. In the past few years his career has taken off because of his unique style of filming - free diving with the ability to capture very close animal interactions, all on a single breath of air.

Michael started as a professional guide for clients who wanted a private and natural experience in the wild with sharks, gators, and other marine life. Guiding high profile clients, actors and actresses, National Geographic Photographers, and professional Cinematographers, Michael quickly made a name as one of the best go -to experts for close encounters with nature's apex and keystone predators. Michael specializes in close interactions, understanding the animals he interacts with allowing him to capture one of a kind shots.

Michael is known for not only capturing the footage needed, but exceeding all expectations of the crew. Michael is a talent with a camera and a person that knows the ins and outs of the animals and the environment he works with. He has a unique passion for being in the ocean and an absolute love for all creatures. Michael has also appeared as a Host and shark expert on Discovery’s Shark Week for multiple years.

“One of the most unique diving experiences of my life, thank you Michael for opening up a new world for me. Seeing tiger sharks in the wild was an incredible encounter and experience I’ll never forget. I felt safe the entire time and can’t wait to do it again!”
