Jill Von D is a Hong Kong - Canadian award-winning director, producer, photographer, and writer based in Los Angeles.
Hailing from Vancouver, B.C and living in Hong Kong, Beijing, Texas, and Los Angeles, entertainment and innovative arts have stuck by Jill day by day. At the age of 17, Jill's photography work was noticed by a local Hong Kong gallery, granting her a debut solo photography exhibition in SOHO, displaying works from all around the world thus giving it's name 'World Wide Wondering by Jill V'. Since then, Jill's work has been published across the world including The Texas Architect, Press Mini Magazine, and WIMDU.
In 2018, Jill was awarded "30 Under 30 Filmmakers to Watch" by the Los Angeles Film Awards Association for her winning film "Rebirth". The film also won awards across ten states and five countries. Her other directorial accomplishments include sci-fi short "The Discovery", a finalist out of 500 at LAFA, as well as a two-part female-oriented film series on domestic violence titled "Prayer" and "Deliverance". Other notable works Jill has produced include "Star Wars: Rogue One, Disney's "The Magic Brush", and "Cerebrum".
Having worked in both China and the US over ten years, Jill specializes in handling all facets of challenging productions, including high profile talent relations, arduous locations, and story development.
Jill is a member of Women in Film Los Angeles and Alliance of Women Directors. In 2017, Jill founded Black Velvet Films with producer Andy Pisharody, a production company based in Los Angeles. As Director, Jill spearheads all projects from pre-production to finish.
