About Me

Jill V. Dae is a Chinese writer, director, and producer based in Los Angeles.

In 2018, Jill was awarded "30 Under 30 Filmmakers to Watch" by the LA Film Awards Association for her debut film "Rebirth". After screening at the Orlando Film Festival, the film was curated by Southwestern University into their filmmaking curriculum. Her other directorial accomplishments include sci-fi short "The Discovery", which premiered at HollyShorts and LA Shorts International Film Festival, and "Honeywell", a surrealist dramedy currently on the festival circuit.

In 2021 Jill directed her first episode of television, the true crime half-hour docuseries "I Met My Murderer Online" on CBS, as well as numerous music videos and commercials through 2023.

As a writer, Jill's alternate history TV pilot script "UMERIKA" won the Fresh Voices International Screenplay Competition, placing first out of 1400. It also won the Diversity & Inclusion Award for it's commentary on race relations. Her feature screenplay "Sonata" was both a Screencraft Film Fund and Women in Film x The Blacklist Feature Lab finalist. As a producer, Jill has under her belt two feature films and a TV show, with distribution on Amazon Prime, Vudu, DirecTV, and more.

Working globally, Jill specializes in handling all facets of challenging productions, including high profile talent relations with an emphasis on impactful storytelling. She founded Black Velvet Films with producing partner Anirudh Pisharody, a production company specializing in innovative content for the undercurrent eye.
Jill is a member of Women in Film Los Angeles, of which she is a selected mentee of the WIF Mentoring Program, and a member Alliance of Women Directors.
