West Virginia Educational Network (Ed-Net), located on the campus of West Virginia State University, is a television production facility with a C-band satellite uplink. This redundant dish, which allows for transmission of two programs simultaneously, is the only C-band uplink in West Virginia. Ed-Net also has two television studios, the first of which is an electronic classroom equipped with remote control cameras. The second is a traditional production studio.
When not producing and/or uplinking classes for higher education, Ed-Net produces teleconferences for businesses, governmental agencies and other educational systems. Ed-Net also produces programming for cable distribution. Programming can be transmitted to Ed-Net via microwave, fiber optics, and the ATM network from locations around the state and then uplinked through the Ed-Net facility.
