About
An interview from the 2016 National Association of Broadcasters Convention in Las Vegas with Niki Mustain of Schneider Optics. Schneider Optics has been producing the highest quality optics on the market for over 90 years, offering solutions for large-format photography, photo enlarging, motion picture projection, optical filtration, and industrial applications. In this interview Niki talks with us about Schneider Optics Xenon FF-Primes (25,35,50,75 & 100), now available in Sony E-mount as well as Canon EF, Nikon F, & PL. Renowned MPTV lens filters include True-Pol®, Classic Soft®, True-Streak® new Confetti, and 1-Stop Circular Polarizer.
This will give users high performance lenses with which to capture images from the full-frame sensor that the a7 series provides without busting the budget. Schneider currently offers primes in 25mm, 35mm, 50mm, 75mm, and 100mm focal lengths with 18mm and 135mm coming in 2016. They are specifically designed in Germany for digital cinematography applicaitnos, and Schneider is focusing (pardon the pun) on the future by gearing these lenses for resolution at the 4K and above range.
Schneider’s new Platinum Series IRND filters limit the light striking the camera’s CCD or CMOS imager to the visible spectrum. By carefully calculating the cutoff frequency in nanometers, we have been able to produce a near-infrared cut filter that lets users of high definition cameras get the most out of their camera gear. This means the benefit of an extended color gamut without the worry of unwanted false colors. Eliminating the near-infrared light leakage lets the camera maintain true color rendition in the blacks while maintaining high MTF of its lenses and camera system.
Schneider Platinum Series IRND filters are free of off-axis color shift regardless of the focal length and can be stacked without introducing reflections common in dichroic filters. They can also be used as a standard ND filter with all HD video and film cameras. These filters are available in all standard video and cine sizes, including: 4x4, 4x5.65, 5x5, 5.65x5.65, 6.6x6.6 sizes plus rounds in 138mm, 4.5” and Series 9. This filter is available in 0.3, 0.6, 0.9, 1.2, 1.5, 1.8, 2.1 and 2.4 stop densities. Higher densities can be achieved by stacking two or more filters.
The 111mm Clear filter is made for the Fuji Cabrio Lens Series that have the M111 front diameter thread. Schneider Optical Flats protect expensive front elements and other filters while providing the truest image, free of unwanted color shifts. Made from Schneider’s clear optical glass, these filters minimize or eliminate the need for laboratory color correction caused by filter variations. Both the front and rear surfaces of these solid-glass (non-laminated) filters receive Schneider’s hard anti-reflective (AR) coating, which measurably improves light transmission.
The original True-Streak filters re-create the classic Anamorphic streak effect without the use of expensive anamorphic lenses. Traditionally the Blue True-Streak filters are used to create this effect, and to not limit your imagination we also have 6 other colors to choose from, as well as Clear. As an expansion of the True-Streak family, we have also created the Confetti True-Streak and the Star True-Streak to really bring your vision into a full spectrum of colors.
