I’m Cullen Blanchfield, a New York City-based Director and Director of Photography (DP) passionate about elevating stories visually. Growing up and living across the United States—from Upstate New York and the San Francisco Bay Area to Atlanta, Dallas, and now NYC—has fueled my curiosity about the diversity of life experiences. This curiosity drives my commitment to sharing meaningful stories that might otherwise remain untold.
As a filmmaker, I specialize in bringing stories to life through cinematic visuals. Whether capturing an individual's emotional journey, articulating a brand's mission, or conveying a group's purpose, I thrive on transforming ideas into stunning visuals. My expertise lies in creating emotionally resonant, visually compelling work across a variety of formats, including feature documentaries, commercials, music videos, and short films.
My journey includes directing two feature-length documentaries, multiple award-winning short films, and high-impact commercial campaigns. This experience has culminated in the founding of my boutique production company, Essence Picture Company, based in New York City. At Essence Picture Company, we craft authentic, visually driven narratives that connect audiences to the heart of every story.
I am also deeply invested in the art of filmmaking and enjoy reviewing and analyzing films to continually refine my craft as a Director/DP. Whether collaborating with brands, agencies, or individuals, my goal is to produce work that resonates and inspires.
