A Guide to Cinematography Drones and the Laws that Govern Them
Thanks to small, high-quality digital cameras, professional and personal drones have completely transformed the production industry, letting filmmakers capture shots that were previously unattainable to non-studio filmmakers. To capture aerial footage a few years ago, you had to either book time in a helicopter containing a professional operator, remote head, and bulky HD camera, or, for lower altitudes, rent the services of a small remote helicopter and operator from a company like Flying-Cam or Coptervision. As you can probably guess, helicopters don’t come cheap.

Cinematographer Clayton Moore has worked on everything from episodic television to feature length films. It’s his recent collaborations with director Brandon Christensen that have been garnering attention from both critics and moviegoers, his latest being Shudder’s The Puppetman. In case you aren’t familiar with the film, the synopsis reads: The Puppetman, a convicted killer on death row, always maintained his innocence and that it was an evil force controlling his body as he slaughtered his victims. Now Michal, the killer’s daughter, begins to suspect that there may be some truth to her father’s claim when those around her begin to die in brutal ways. She must try and break the curse of The Puppetman before all her loved ones are killed.

Tips on Finding Your Composition in Wedding Cinematography
By Ray Roman I never really planned on leaving my fulltime job to become a wedding cinematographer. I was working at a police department on the SWAT team when I entered the business, and I thought it was just going to be a hobby. Over time, however, I started booking more clients than I could handle, and I had to make the leap. I was obsessed with video production. My first lesson of advice to anyone pursuing a newfound passion while still working fulltime would be to take it slow. I never considered the backlog that was going to come with these jobs until it was too late, and although I loved every second of it, it was hard work for a novice. I had to work doubly hard to develop my craft.
