The concept of television has changed dramatically since 1996, when the UN General Assembly declared November 21 World Television Day in honor of the impact TV has had on our decision-making.

Network television had a pretty good run. For decades, TV producers perfected their formulas to maximize viewership through scheduled weekly episodes. Streaming services have permanently disrupted television’s model by dropping entire seasons at once, adding an entirely new dynamic to the game. There’s no turning back the clock; television as we know it is changing forever, and streaming services are taking the lead.

The amount of time people spent consuming only video each day jumped 23.3% in 2015 and is set to increase by a further 19.8% in 2016. Advances in technology only boosted this trend with increases in mobile video performance and storage capacities.

I've learned quite a few lessons throughout the course of my career in commercial production. And many the hard way. But you live -- you learn, and such is life. Perhaps the most important I've learned is how to surround myself with professionals who work on other high-profile projects all the time.
